Nagin Dhun – Easy Piano Tutorial (SLOW) with Notes
The Nagin Dhun is one of the most famous musical tunes in India. It is often played in snake-charming performances and has a unique, flowing melody that sounds like a snake dancing. This tune became even more popular after being used in Bollywood movies, especially in snake-themed films. It is commonly played on the been (a traditional wind instrument), harmonium, piano, flute, and keyboard.
The Nagin Dhun became famous after being used in the song “Mera Dil Yeh Pukare Aaja“ from the 1954 Bollywood movie Nagin. This song, sung by Lata Mangeshkar, featured a special snake charmer tune played on a keyboard-like instrument called the clavioline. The melody became iconic and is now known as the classic Nagin Dhun.
No, the song “Main Teri Dushman” from the 1986 movie Nagina (starring Sridevi) has a similar snake-like melody, but it is not the same Nagin Dhun. However, it created a similar mysterious and hypnotic feel, making it another famous song linked to snake dance themes in Bollywood.
